Have you ever heard a chiropractic adjustment and hear a popping sound? A lot of people ask thats normal or something is actually breaking up? Let’s clear that up. The sound you hear during an adjustment is called cavitation. It is not your bones cracking. It is simply gas bubbles being released from the joints. Your joints contain fluid that helps them move smoothly. When pressure changes quickly, such as during an adjustment, tiny gas bubbles are released, creating that popping sound. It is the same thing that happens when you crack your knuckles. Does it hurt? Most people find chiropractic adjustments relieving and even relaxing. There is no breaking or grinding, just the release of tension within the joints. Some adjustments do not make a sound at all, depending on the technique being used. Beyond the sound, chiropractic adjustments may help with: Reducing tension and stiffness Improving mobility and flexibility Relieving pressure on nerves Supporting proper nerve flow throughout the body Promoting better posture and overall function Here at Stonelake Chiropractic, we use safe, gentle techniques to restore proper movement and relieve tension. Whether you hear a pop or not, the goal is always better function and less pain. Curious about chiropractic adjustments? We would love to answer your questions.
